UAE-based AI startup Tarjama has just closed an impressive $15 million Series A funding round, with major backing from Global Ventures, the region’s leading VC firm. Also joining the round were Wamda Capital, TA Ventures, Phaze Capital, Golden Gate Ventures, and Endeavor Catalyst — all placing their bets on Tarjama’s mission to transform Arabic enterprise AI.

Founded in 2009 by Nour Al Hassan, Tarjama has become a powerhouse in language technology. As of now, it’s serving over 700 global clients with solutions in 50+ languages and 22 Arabic dialects. With this funding boost, the company is looking to supercharge its newest innovation: Arabic.AI. This cluster is a proprietary AI ecosystem tailored specifically for the Arabic-speaking enterprise world.

What Makes Tarjama Stand Out?

Tarjama isn’t just another AI startup. It has built Pronoia V2, a purpose-built Arabic-first large language model (LLM) that’s turning heads in the tech world. Unlike generic global AI models that often fall short in understanding Arabic’s complexity, Pronoia V2 is delivering on:

  • Cultural fluency
  • Contextual intelligence
  • Superior task-specific performance

Pronoia has outperformed major models like GPT-4o, Cohere, and DeepSeek-V3 on Arabic-specific tasks, proving itself as a faster, more secure, and cost-effective solution for enterprises operating in the MENA region.

Where’s the $15 Million Going?

Tarjama has ambitious plans to use this capital to scale Arabic.AI and strengthen its position as the go-to Arabic AI solutions provider. Here’s how the funds will be used:

  • Doubling the research and engineering teams
  • Building sovereign AI infrastructure tailored for industries and government entities
  • Launching an AI Academy to train hundreds of enterprise and government leaders across the region

This expansion comes at a crucial time when the MENA region’s $3 trillion economy is rapidly digitizing, and 400 million Arabic speakers are looking for better, more intuitive AI tools.

Strong Growth, Clear Vision

With a 20% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the last three years and profitability already achieved, Tarjama is not just scaling — it’s doing so sustainably. The company’s deep understanding of local language, culture, and business context makes it uniquely equipped to deliver real, enterprise-grade solutions where global players often struggle.

“Arabic has been underserved by AI for too long,” said Nour Al Hassan, Founder and CEO. “Our flagship product, Pronoia, is changing that — transforming day-long tasks into minutes and helping enterprises operate smarter and faster in Arabic markets.”

What’s Next?

With this new funding and backing from some of the region’s top investors, Tarjama is ready to:

  • ✔️ Scale its AI operations across industries
  • ✔️ Deepen its footprint across MENA and beyond
  • ✔️ Empower a new generation of AI-literate leaders in the Arab world
