Tambi Jalouqa, one of the Middle East’s most recognized names in venture capital, is back with a bold new mission. After stepping down as CEO of Amman-based VC firm Propeller, Tambi has launched Maza Ventures — a brand-new seed fund focused on supporting high-potential software and deeptech startups built by founders from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

Maza Ventures to back Big Ideas with Big Impact

Maza Ventures is all about deep tech and ambitious innovation. The fund will back highly technical founding teams building globally scalable products in areas like:

In short, if it’s a moonshot idea that can change the world — Maza wants in.

Meet the Man Behind the Mission

Tambi Jalouqa is no stranger to the startup scene. Before launching Maza, he spent over eight years at Propeller, with six of those as CEO. While there, he helped raise two funds and invested in some of MENA’s most exciting startups, including:

  • âś… Maqsam (Jordan) – A cloud telephony platform
  • âś… Gameball (Egypt) – Customer engagement and loyalty software
  • âś… Oto (Saudi Arabia) – Logistics automation
  • âś… Lawhive (UK) – Legal tech for small firms

He also co-founded Xpand, a leading product and software event in Jordan, and was the founding CTO of POSRocket, a POS startup acquired by Foodics.

A software engineer by background, Tambi has spent years building tech and investing in the people behind it. Now, he’s ready to take that experience global with Maza.

Investing Starts Now — Even Before First Close

Though Maza Ventures is still in the fundraising phase, Tambi isn’t waiting on the sidelines. Until the first fund close, he’s continuing to invest personally through angel checks, having already backed 11 startups.

Once the fund officially launches, Maza will begin writing larger seed-stage checks. Tambi has also promised to “build the fund in public” — a transparent approach rarely seen in MENA’s VC scene. Expect regular updates on Maza’s fundraising journey, investments, and strategy.

What Sets Maza Apart?

While most funds in the region focus on fintech or e-commerce, Maza is targeting deeptech and enterprise software, areas that require serious technical know-how and global thinking.

Tambi’s approach is unique in several ways:

  • âś… Backing moonshot founders who think beyond borders
  • âś… Supporting underrated but highly technical teams from the MENA region
  • âś… Promoting transparency in VC by sharing the fund’s progress publicly
  • âś… Leveraging years of hands-on product, engineering, and startup experience

Maza Ventures is a Global Fund with MENA Roots

Maza Ventures isn’t just about funding — it’s about unlocking the global potential of MENA founders. With a clear focus on technical innovation and a bold, transparent approach, Tambi Jalouqa is setting the stage for the next generation of world-class startups from the region.

As he puts it: “I’m here to back those building with deep conviction, building for the world, and building with heart.”
