Saudi Arabia launches first National Biotech Accelerator in partnership with BioLabs

In a landmark step toward advancing healthcare innovation, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health has launched its first national biotech accelerator, in collaboration with BioLabs, a global leader in life sciences incubation. The announcement was made by Eng. Abdulaziz Al-Rumaih, Vice Minister of Health for Planning and Development, at the BIO International Convention in Boston.

This initiative marks a significant move toward positioning the Kingdom as a global biotech and health innovation hub, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

The Biotech Accelerator Program is part of the broader Health Sector Transformation Program and the National Biotechnology Strategy. These strategies aim to:

The inaugural batch includes eight pioneering Saudi biotech companies, each addressing critical challenges in medicine, diagnostics, and genetic research:

  • cellNUA – Creating bee-derived nanotherapies for targeted healing
  • SAGEbio – Specializing in vaccine manufacturing technologies
  • Novo Genomics – Focusing on advanced genetic diagnostics
  • MammoStem – Innovating in regenerative medicine
  • NanoPalm – Treating genetic disorders with cutting-edge solutions
  • KaRama Bio – Designing tools for early disease diagnostics
  • PhageTech – Combatting antibiotic resistance using phage therapies

These startups reflect a wide scope of biotech potential in the Kingdom, from preventive care to next-gen therapies.

The seven-month accelerator offers a comprehensive support structure to the selected startups. Participants will gain:
