Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Aramco have signed a non-binding term sheet for Aramco to acquire a significant minority stake in HUMAIN, the advanced AI company backed by PIF. This strategic partnership marks a pivotal move to unify Saudi Arabia’s artificial intelligence capabilities under a single, powerful platform.
The deal positions HUMAIN as a global AI powerhouse, combining PIF’s investment strength with Aramco’s industrial expertise. PIF will retain majority ownership, ensuring that HUMAIN remains a national asset driving Saudi Arabia’s vision to become a world-class AI hub.
Combining Strengths to Build a Global AI Force
Under the agreement, PIF and Aramco will consolidate their AI assets, talent, and technologies within HUMAIN. This integration aims to scale up HUMAIN’s capabilities rapidly and expand its global presence in the AI sector.
Key focus areas include:
- Accelerating AI innovation and research
- Building next-generation data centers and cloud platforms
- Developing advanced AI models and infrastructure
- Fostering talent and intellectual property creation
According to Yazeed A. Al-Humied, Deputy Governor and Head of MENA Investments at PIF, “By combining AI assets under HUMAIN, we are fueling talent, innovation, and investment opportunities. This step strengthens Saudi Arabia’s position as a globally competitive AI hub.”
Aramco’s Role in Driving AI Transformation
Amin H. Nasser, President and CEO of Aramco, emphasized that the company’s investment in HUMAIN will reinforce its leadership in industrial AI and digital transformation. Aramco plans to leverage HUMAIN’s infrastructure to translate cutting-edge AI into practical industrial solutions, enhancing efficiency and sustainability across its operations.
“Our goal is to use advanced AI to improve efficiency, reduce emissions, and sustain our competitive edge,” Nasser stated. “This collaboration supports national transformation while expanding Saudi Arabia’s AI ecosystem.”
HUMAIN: Building the Foundation for Saudi AI Leadership
Launched in May 2025, HUMAIN is rapidly developing full-stack AI capabilities across four key domains:
- Next-generation data centers
- High-performance cloud and infrastructure
- Advanced AI models, including ALLAM, one of the world’s most powerful multimodal Arabic large language models
- Transformative AI solutions for diverse industries
Recently, PIF transferred its Saudi Company for Artificial Intelligence (SCAI) to HUMAIN, reinforcing the company’s mission to lead the nation’s AI development and digital transformation.
PIF’s broader AI strategy aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, emphasizing diversification, innovation, and global competitiveness. This collaboration with Aramco brings together two of the Kingdom’s most influential institutions to strengthen the nation’s digital economy.
A Catalyst for National and Global Impact
Once finalized, the transaction will mark a new era in Saudi Arabia’s AI evolution. HUMAIN will serve as a unified platform for both industrial AI and advanced computing, empowering the Kingdom to attract global talent, capital, and technology partnerships.
Through this partnership, PIF and Aramco are not only transforming Saudi Arabia’s digital future but also positioning the nation as a key global player in artificial intelligence.
