Strengthening Global Data Infrastructure

Dubai-based EDGNEX Data Centers, a subsidiary of DAMAC Group, has expanded into the Nordic market with the acquisition of Hyperco, a Finnish data center company. This move strengthens EDGNEX’s presence in Europe and aligns with its broader vision of world-class digital infrastructure.

Why Hyperco?

Hyperco operates in Finland and Sweden, two regions known for their strong digital infrastructure, reliable connectivity, and abundant renewable energy—crucial for sustainable data growth. The company’s three founders and existing team will remain in leadership roles, ensuring continuity and local expertise in operations.

Hussain Sajwani, Chairman of DAMAC Group, highlighted the significance of this acquisition, stating:
“This move fits perfectly with our vision to build top-tier digital infrastructure. With Hyperco’s expertise and innovation, we’re confident in our ability to scale up operations across the Nordics.”

Similarly, Hyperco CEO Aleksi Taipale described the deal as a transformative step that will accelerate the development of sustainable, AI-ready data centers. This technology is in high demand as digital markets evolve.

EDGNEX’s Global Expansion Plans

This isn’t EDGNEX’s only big move. The company has been making waves across the globe with massive investments:

  1. United States – A $20 billion investment aims to build a 2,000MW data center portfolio in the Midwest and Sunbelt regions. The initial phase will launch with 500MW, with land acquisition and partnerships already underway.
  2. Europe – EDGNEX has been aggressively expanding in key European markets:
Greece – A €150 million joint project is in progress.
Spain – A €400 million data center in Madrid is set to be completed by 2026. Madrid is gaining traction as a digital hub, competing with traditional FLAPD (Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, Paris, Dublin) markets.
  3. Middle East & Asia – Existing projects include:
Saudi Arabia – A 10MW data center is already operational.
Thailand – A 5MW facility is set to open soon.

Ambitious Growth Targets

Since launching its global expansion strategy in 2021, EDGNEX has committed to reaching a total data center capacity of 3,000MW by 2026. With $3 billion earmarked for major markets, its vision is clear: establishing itself as a leader in high-performance, energy-efficient, and AI-optimized data centers worldwide.

The Hyperco acquisition is just another step in EDGNEX’s ambitious journey. By focusing on sustainable, cutting-edge data solutions, the company is positioning itself at the forefront of the industry—driving innovation while meeting the growing demand for green digital infrastructure.
