DataCamp, the US- and London-based edtech leader in data and AI learning, has entered the Middle East by acquiring UAE-based Optima, an AI-native learning platform founded by Yusuf Saber in 2021. The move signals DataCamp’s first major step into the region, combining two powerful platforms to accelerate AI-driven learning and workforce development.

Powering Personalized AI Learning

Optima’s technology personalizes lessons, pacing, and feedback for every learner in real time. This adaptive system allows both enterprises and individuals to upskill effectively and efficiently.

Key highlights of the platform include:

  • Dynamic Pacing: Lessons adjust automatically to each learner’s speed and understanding.
  • Personalized Feedback: AI tailors responses to individual performance.
  • Real-Time Learning: Content evolves with the learner’s progress and goals.

Following the acquisition, Yusuf Saber joins DataCamp as Chief AI Officer, ensuring Optima’s intelligent learning engine continues to enhance DataCamp’s growing platform.

Strengthening Data and AI Education in the UAE

DataCamp will launch DataCamp Classrooms in the UAE, giving students and educators free access to more than 500 courses in:

  • Python
  • SQL
  • Power BI
  • Java
  • Machine Learning
  • Cloud Computing

Additionally, UAE government employees and students will get six months of free access to DataCamp’s “Intro to AI” course. The initiative aligns with the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031, which focuses on building local talent and preparing the nation’s workforce for an AI-powered future.

Driving Enterprise Upskilling

The acquisition comes as global enterprises face rapid changes in AI and data technologies. Companies need to continuously upskill teams to stay competitive. DataCamp’s engaging, practical learning experience—now supercharged with Optima’s adaptive AI—helps organizations build future-ready teams.

DataCamp already serves:

  • Employees from 80% of the Fortune 1000
  • Over 18 million learners worldwide
  • 6,000 enterprise clients, including Google, Uber, Nike, Pfizer, and Roche

With a 30% year-over-year growth rate, DataCamp expects to surpass $100 million in annual recurring revenue by 2026.

Shaping the Future of Learning

According to Jonathan Cornellisen, DataCamp’s co-founder and CEO, “Online learning can no longer be static and generic. The future lies in dynamic, human-centered learning.” Integrating Optima’s technology enables DataCamp to deliver tailored, interactive, and AI-enhanced education for every learner.

Yusuf Saber adds, “Optima was built to make learning intuitive, personalized, and impactful. Together with DataCamp, we can redefine how people in the UAE and beyond build AI skills.”

With this acquisition, DataCamp strengthens its mission to make AI and data skills accessible, personalized, and globally relevant.
