BasharSoft, the company behind Egypt’s top job platforms Wuzzuf and Forasna, has announced its full acquisition of iCareer, Egypt’s leading consultancy in large-scale employment programs and career development solutions. The move cements BasharSoft’s position as the country’s most comprehensive employment ecosystem and expands its footprint into the GCC, following its recent entry into Saudi Arabia.
Expanding Reach and Impact
Since its founding in 2009, BasharSoft has become a key player in Egypt’s labor market, connecting:
- Over 9 million job seekers with 100,000+ employers
- Facilitating more than 1.4 million hires
- Building an integrated ecosystem across online job marketplaces, recruitment software, and employability programs
This acquisition aligns with BasharSoft’s mission to address core regional employment challenges such as unemployment, workforce readiness, and skill mismatch.
iCareer’s Strong Track Record
Established in 2012, iCareer is recognized for its large-scale employment programs and career guidance across Egypt and the Gulf. Its partners include:
- Government ministries and top universities such as Ain Shams, AAST, and The American University in Cairo
- Major employers including Vodafone, PepsiCo, Hassan Allam Holding, and Procter & Gamble
- International development organizations such as the ILO, UN, GIZ, and CFYE
This partnership combines iCareer’s field expertise with BasharSoft’s technological capabilities, creating a stronger regional player in employment and career development.
A Strategic Merger for Scalable Impact
According to Ameer Sherif, Co-founder and Executive Chairman of BasharSoft, “Combining BasharSoft’s technology and data with iCareer’s expertise creates a powerful synergy.” The acquisition is part of a broader strategy to:
- Expand across Saudi Arabia, GCC, and MEA markets
- Build a regional JobTech and HR ecosystem
- Support governments in solving unemployment at scale through data-driven insights and upskilling initiatives
Integrating Recruitera for Smarter Hiring
As part of the deal, BasharSoft also acquired Recruitera, Egypt’s first Applicant Tracking Software (ATS SaaS) developed by iCareer. The software will soon integrate with Wuzzuf and Forasna, enabling employers to:
- Post jobs and manage applications seamlessly
- Access recruitment analytics
- Streamline hiring processes using automation
This integration will connect iCareer’s training and assessment programs with Wuzzuf and Forasna’s job access, helping universities and employers strengthen graduate employability.
Powering the Future of Work
Akram Marwan, CEO of iCareer, emphasized the merger’s potential to “create an impact on job creation and youth employment like never before.” With over 10 million individuals already impacted, the combined entity aims to reach 100 million by 2030 through scalable programs and regional expansion.
Ahmed Samir, General Manager of BasharSoft, added that the acquisition signals a shift toward becoming the region’s leading Human Capital Management (HCM) company. By leveraging AI and data insights, BasharSoft plans to:
- Enhance job matching and recommendations
- Simplify profile creation for job seekers
- Automate job postings for employers
The company currently employs 200 professionals and plans to add 100 more within two years while targeting $25 million in revenue. BasharSoft continues to play a key role in labor policy development, entrepreneurship, and Egypt’s 2025 Labor Law reforms.
