Almarai acquires premium water brand Pure Beverages in $277M deal

Almarai, one of the largest food and beverage companies in the Middle East, is making a bold move to strengthen its beverage portfolio. The company announced it will acquire 100% of Pure Beverages Industry Co. in a deal valued at USD 277 million (SAR 1.04 billion).

This acquisition aligns with Almarai’s strategy to expand beyond its traditional dairy dominance and tap into Saudi Arabia rapidly growing bottled water market.

Who is Pure Beverages?

Founded in 1979 by Aljan & Bros, Pure Beverages is a Saudi-based producer of premium bottled drinking water. It owns well-known local brands such as:

This acquisition marks a strong follow-up to Almarai’s ongoing push for portfolio diversification. It comes after a previous attempt in March 2025 to acquire Hammoudeh Food Industries fell through due to unmet conditions by the seller.

This time, however, the company appears confident. “We believe this transaction will add value to our shareholders and further strengthen our position in the beverages sector,” the company noted in a statement.
