Archer Aviation, the U.S.-based electric air taxi pioneer, has raised a massive $850 million in fresh funding. The capital injection will accelerate the company’s global expansion, including the much-anticipated launch of its operations in the UAE and the broader MENA region.
This new raise follows a previous $430 million equity round and pushes Archer’s funding total past $1.2 billion, a significant vote of confidence in the future of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) technology.
Who’s backing Archer?
The $850M round saw support from:
- ✅ Stellantis – Archer’s strategic manufacturing partner
- ✅ United Airlines – Committed to next-gen aviation innovation
- ✅ Wellington Management – A major institutional investor
- ✅ 2PointZero – A forward-looking investment firm based in Abu Dhabi
The shares were priced at $10 each, with 85 million sold in total. The new funds will support infrastructure, commercial rollout, and global expansion, particularly in early launch markets.
MENA in Focus, UAE as a Launchpad
Archer has its sights set on the UAE as the launch market for its first MENA-based flying taxi service. This aligns with the UAE’s broader strategy to lead smart mobility and innovation in aviation.
With regional support, Archer plans to manufacture and operate eVTOL aircraft directly within MENA. These operations will enable quick, sustainable, and congestion-free travel between urban centers, airports, and event hubs.
Global Momentum & Olympic Vision
Archer’s funding surge follows rising U.S. government support for advanced aerial mobility. Recent moves include:
- âś… A White House-backed eVTOL Integration Pilot Program
- âś… Executive orders promoting drone and air taxi testing for transport, cargo, and defense
- âś… Coordination with the FAA and U.S. Department of Transportation to fast-track regulatory pathways
Archer is also preparing for its high-profile role as the official air taxi partner of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. The company plans to offer 10–20 minute flights between venues through a network of vertiports—turning air taxis into a real urban mobility solution.
The Bigger Picture
With cities growing denser and traffic congestion worsening, air mobility is moving from concept to necessity. Archer’s eVTOL aircraft are designed to be:
- âś… Fully electric and low noise
- âś… Cost-efficient for short trips
- âś… Capable of vertical takeoff and landing in tight urban spaces
By expanding into the UAE and partnering with MENA-based investors, Archer signals a clear commitment to global urban air travel—delivered sustainably and at scale.
