In a major step towards digital transformation, Algérie Télécom has launched an $11 million investment fund to support AI startups, cybersecurity, and robotics. The initiative aligns with the Algerian government’s national AI strategy, which aims to establish 20,000 startups, expand digital infrastructure, and invest in AI-focused universities and incubators.

National AI Investment Strategy in Algeria

The fund was announced at the third edition of Algeria’s CTO Forum by Sid Ali Zerrouki, Algeria’s Minister of Post and Telecommunications. This initiative is part of Algeria’s broader AI and digital economy roadmap. It seeks to position AI as a key economic driver contributing 7% to the country’s GDP by 2027.

This initiative is backed by a network of business incubators and led by the following ministries, entities and departments:

  • The Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-Enterprises

Additionally, Algeria has introduced “Scale Centers”, specialized training programs focused on AI, cybersecurity, and cloud computing, aimed at equipping youth with in-demand tech skills.
