Saudi-based startup TabSense has raised $5 million in its first funding round, led by Jasoor Ventures, to redefine how restaurants and cafes manage their operations. The investment will drive product innovation, regional expansion, and AI development. This will go on as the company scales its intelligent Agentic Point of Sale (PoS) system for the food sector.
Transforming the Restaurant Experience with AI
Founded in 2024 by Mohammed Jaber, Mohammad Khleifat, Shadi Daboor, and Mohamad Ababatain, TabSense has built an AI-native PoS platform designed to act like a team of digital employees. Instead of simply recording sales, the system automates routine management tasks and provides real-time insights that help business owners make smarter decisions.
The AI-powered PoS leverages autonomous digital agents that perform key functions such as:
- Menu optimization to increase profitability.
- Customer behavior analysis for better personalization.
- Product recommendations based on purchasing patterns.
- Operational automation that minimizes manual intervention.
“Our AI agents handle the complex, time-consuming aspects of management—from understanding customer behavior to optimizing operations—allowing restaurant owners to focus on growth and quality,” said Mohammed Jaber, Co-founder of TabSense.
Driving Growth and Regional Expansion
TabSense already serves over 1,000 clients across Saudi Arabia and Jordan. The company plans to expand further across the GCC and global markets, focusing on high-growth hospitality sectors.
The new funding will be used to:
- Expand the AI and full-stack engineering teams.
- Enhance agentic intelligence capabilities.
- Build a stronger regional sales network.
- Accelerate integration with financial and telecom partners.
TabSense has established partnerships with major players, including STC and Zain, while also integrating its systems with leading financial institutions to provide seamless payment and management solutions for multi-branch and franchise restaurants.
The Broader MENA Startup Landscape
The TabSense raise comes at a time of shifting dynamics in the MENA startup funding ecosystem. According to Wamda’s monthly report, August saw $337.5 million raised across 47 startups, a 57% drop from July’s record $783 million. However, funding remained 74% higher year-on-year, signaling ongoing investor confidence.
Key insights include:
- Saudi Arabia led the region with $166 million raised across 19 deals.
- The UAE followed with $154 million across 11 startups.
- Egypt ranked third, with eight startups securing $14.7 million in total.
Within this landscape, TabSense’s growth reflects the growing regional appetite for AI-driven business infrastructure, particularly in industries such as food and beverage that are ripe for automation and efficiency gains.
Shaping the Future of Smart Restaurants
TabSense’s vision is to help every restaurant operate with the intelligence and precision of a digital-first enterprise. By merging AI automation with operational insight, the company is positioning itself as a regional pioneer in AI-powered hospitality technology.
